A record number of golfers hit the links in support of the community’s youth.

Eastside Community Ministries held their fourth annual golf outing at the Jaycees Course. Their goal is to provide programs that benefit kids.

"We have this event to help sponsor particularly the youth programs we run. We run a youth program that goes all year long and in the summer time they do lots and lots of exciting things so this helps support our youth program," says Sally Goins, an Eastside Ministries Board Member.

Another program that Eastside organizes is called "Tools for schools," which provides kids with backpacks filled with school supplies. Today’s participants had a part.

"It’s wonderful to see everyone out here supporting. We’ve got a wide variety of people, all levels of play, all ages, and it’s just really a fun event. Everybody’s going to have fun and help contribute to the work that eastside does," says Goins.

A total of 20 teams participated, totaling close to 80 golfers. In past years, Eastside Ministries has raised close to $6,000. They expect to exceed that this year.
