Zanesville Man Leads Police to Quarantine Senior Housing Building

The Zanesville Police Department says it’s looking for a man, who was believed to be armed.

Patrolmen were called to an earlier incident in the day, involving a Kenneth Johnson of Zanesville.

"…that he was running up the street, supposedly carrying a firearms. Officers pursued after him and he ran inside of the building here at the end of Baker and Whipple. Officers arrived at the scene and secured the building. We went to each room, cleared every room, and he was not found, " says Patrolman James Devoll of the ZPD.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol were called in to assist ZPD secure the perimeter at the Frank Cook Senior Housing. No one was injured in the incident.

Devoll says Johnson was communicating with other people in the area, who let police know that he was no longer inside the building, but he wouldn’t give up his current location.

It isn’t Johson’s first encounter with the law.

"He’s had a prior record. He’s been in several incidents-several burglaries, " says Devoll.

These offenses have landed him in jail.
