A historic landmark in Zanesville celebrates 175 years.

Putnam Presbyterian Church is the oldest church building in Zanesville. Throughout the years, while the building has remained the same, many members have come and gone. Pastor Herb Perry grew up in the church and looks back on pastors before him. William Beecher, brother of author Harriet Beecher Stowe, was the first pastor of Putnam Presbyterian.

"As we grow older, that is so much more meaningful to find out the pastors that were before me that were involved in freedom of slavery," says Pastor Herb Perry.

The weekend also brought back members who haven’t been to the church in years.

"What was really nice was we sent out letters to a lot of our former members and so forth and to see some of them come back and get together was like a reunion that was fun to see," says Gloria Kreis.

An ice cream social was held on Saturday , as well as tours throughout the weekend to commemorate 175 years.
