AAA Seeing An Increase In Calls

The summer heat is causing one local towing company to respond to more calls.

Clever’s Towing Service on Hoge Avenue here in Zanesville has seen an increase in breakdowns which it attributes to the extended heat we have been experiencing.

"Anytime that it’s hot outside our call center knows it’s going to be a busy day. They’ve really been slammed with this heat especially in the afternoon, the busiest hours of the day are between one and seven and that’s also the hottest part of the day and you also have the evening rush hour in there," says AAA Public Relations Manager, Kimberly Schwind.

Schwind says that AAA responds to nearly 1,500 calls a day, a couple 100 more than last summer. Clever’s Service Driver, Michael Nunley says that taking a few preventative measures can keep your car from breaking down.

"Check your battery post, make sure they’re not corroded make sure the connections are good and tight, make sure it’s a fresh battery, get your air conditioning checked, if you’re not sure of what to do or how to do it, call a professional," says Nunley.

Schwind says the average response time for AAA is around 32 minutes. The company’s headquarters is in Columbus and covers 38 counties.
