A water tank in Sonora needs some new paint and some repairs. The Muskingum County Commissioners opened up bids for the job on Thursday.

The half-million-gallon Sonora water tank needs repairs to the main line. In addition, the 149 foot tank needs new paint both inside and out.

"The estimate on fixing the pipe and painting the tank is $255,000 so today we opened up the seven bids and we’ll take them under advisement," says Muskingum County Commissioner, John Bates.

Once the job is awarded, approximately 30 days of repair work will begin in the Fall followed by painting in the Spring. The tank will be out of commission during that time.

"It won’t affect anyone, there’s a half-a-million gallons in that tank, and there’s two other back up tanks so no it won’t affect anybody," says Commissioner Bates.

The bid will be awarded early next week.
