Blue devils "teamed up" to get new kicks ready for area kids.

The Zanesville High School football team came ready to work at the Civic League Community Center, unpacking boxes in preparation for tomorrow’s big "Lace up or Kids" event. Head coach, Chad Grandstaff says the team has been volunteering for countless years, teaching the boys valuable lessons.

"It’s a nice way for them to see the need in the community and the hard work that they do and also to be able to give back to people that aren’t so fortunate or just want to start off the school year on the right foot," says Coach Grandstaff.

Together, the team takes part in four community service events throughout the year. Grandstaff’s players realizes the impact that they can have by donating their time to the community.

"They’ve given so much to us for our field, for our school. I think it’s important to give back and kids need shoes. It’s tough economic times and sometimes it’s hard to get that extra money together to buy shoes and they’re doing a good job here getting shoes out to everybody," says senior player, Jacob

Doors open Friday morning at 9 a.m. for the Lace up for Kids event at the Civic League Community Center.
