Youth services at the Carr Center are receiving a few thousand dollars in funding.

It’s funding staff say is essential, especially with the increased need for the services they provide to the community.

"There’s a lot of people who wouldn’t be served otherwise if we didn’t. There are a lot of people who benefit from those programs in a lot of different ways, " says Executive Director, Anna Oertel.

Some of these services include the car seat program, Kids’ Safety Town, and speech therapy.

"It’s neat to see the different kids who come in and maybe they can’t speak well or they’re completely non-verbal. A couple years later, you can’t stop them. They talk and talk and talk. It’s really neat to see that and makes it all worthwhile, " says Oertel.

A golf outing was held at the Longaberger Golf Course this afternoon with all the proceeds going directly to the Carr Center’s mission. Nearly 80 golfers participated.
