Horse competitions are being held throughout the week at the Muskingum County Fair.

4H members and local horseback riders are bringing their horses to the faigrounds in hopes of winning first place. While many enjoy the competition, they also like to ride for fun.

"I’ve always loved horses since I was really little and I always wanted to ride them so I just always liked it," said Horseback rider, Riley Zimmerman.

Zimmerman owns an Egyptian Arabian Horse that is four-years-old. The junior fair draft horse show and the open draft horse show was held on Thursday.

"These horses are called gentle giants, they are soft in the mind, they’re just wonderful to be around, they don’t want to hurt anybody, they just want somebody to love on them all the time," said Draft Horse Owner, Tori Alexander.

Alexander says that draft horses are generally used to work in the field. She won second place in the open draft horse competition which was on on Thursday.
