Area golfers are showing support for young women who strive to make a difference in this community.

The Miss Muskingum Valley Pageant Committee hosted a fundraiser at Vista Golf Course to help raise money for next year’s crowned winner. Every year a new paltform is selected.

"My platform is animal rescue and it’s basically just raising awareness for the animals that are in the shelters and how to prevent animal cruelty and report it if seen," said Miss Muskingum Valley 2010, Heidi Negron.

Any young woman, age 18 or older, in Ohio is allowed to enter the pageant. Negron says that she would encourage other girls to participate.

"It’s definitely a personality and confidence booster, and I have definitely learned, this is my first year competing what-so-ever so it’s definitely been a learning experience totally and it’s helped me learn poise and class and communication," she said.

Tomorrow Vista Golf Course is offering to give $5.00 of every round of golf purchased to the pageant. Contestants will line the stage for next year’s pageant in March.
