Preparing Food For the Fair

Preparing Food For the Fair

There will be a lot of hungry mouths to feed at the Muskingum County Fair this week.

With thousands expected to attend, food vendors are preparing for the masses by bringing extra supplies.

"We just ordered ahead of time I get all the inside food prepared all the inside supplies and stuff ready. The chicken gets delivered everyday or Monday Wednesday Friday, something like that. And they keep us pretty well stocked," said Debbie Savage of the Zanesville Athletic Booster Club.

Savage says they cook about 50-75 grilled chicken halves per hour. Many vendors try to plan as best they can so they don’t run out of food.

"We haven’t run out of supplies but we’ll run out of doughnuts and it’s kind of a scramble to get things back in stock," said Courtney Wilkins of Eastern Star Assocation.

Wilkins says they typically serve more than 600 doughnuts per day. These food vendors and more will be at the fair all week long.
