A press box now stands atop new visitor bleachers at Sulsberger Stadium in Zanesville.
Crews started working from the ground up last week. It’s about a $450,000 project that’s coming from general funds in the projected five-year forecast.
"It’ll take them another couple of weeks to put the backing in so kids can’t get through the back and fall down. Then the sides go on, but in another week, they’re going to be pretty close to being done, " says construction liaison, Darrell Lear.
The bleachers are expected to add a whole new element to the stadium, making it a first-rate facility. It will seat about 2,000 people, including 22 handicap accessible seats. Lear says the upgrades to the stadium over the past few years will help Zanesville’s chances of being in the running as a location for semi-playoff games.
