Thanks to the help of many volunteers and the community lots of area students are ready to go back to school.
As part of the Tools for School program volunteers passed out thousands of school supplies Thursday morning . Cars were lined up at Roosevelt Middle School picking up backpacks and other supplies for students. Lucas Warfield has two children ages seven and eight he’s getting ready to send back to the classroom.
"It’s a big deal to us just because of the economy and the way everybody’s struggling right now, it’s really helpful," Warfield said.
Warfield picked up backpacks and other school gear for both his kids.
"They kept bugging us about it and asking what they were getting and all that kinda of stuff," Warfield said.
Each person had to pre-register for the Tools for School program so that each backpack could be made for the individual child, according to their school and grade level. All the school supplies were donated from the community during "stuff the bus" and other local organizations.
