Zanesville students will get the chance to explore three new buildings before school starts.
The district is holding four student orientations this Thursday. John McIntire and National Road Elementary Schools will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Zane Grey Elementary School will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parents are invited to help these younger students take in the new surroundings.
"We want students to get familiar with the building and walk through by themselves…get their lockers and just get things organized before they enter, " says Kevin Appleman of Zanesville City Schools.
A student orientation will also be held at Zanesville High School. Seniors will have a first look at the new building between 3 and 4 p.m. while underclassmen will have to wait for their turn between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Appleman is asking that only students come to this orientation to keep the building from becoming cluttered and making the experience too overwhelming for students.
He says the district is excited to offer these new, state-of-the art buildings.
"It’s a better learning environment-all brandnew material. So, it will be good for everyone, " says Appleman.

A general open house for the public will be held at a future date.
Despite rumors that have been floating around the community, all Zanesville City Schools still plan to start the 2010/2011 academic year next Tuesday, September 7th.
