An Adamsville man is taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after the pick-up truck he was riding in crashed on US 30.

It happened just east of Mansfield.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Mathew Hollis of Pickerington had just gotten onto the entrance ramp from Reed Road when he lost control of the vehicle. Troopers say Hollis overcorrected, the pick-up truck slide sideways onto US 30, overturned, and came to rest on its top in the median.

Two passengers in the open cargo area, 28-year-old Mathew Oprean of Canton, and 20-year-old Allen Shirer of Adamsville, were ejected. Shirer was found on the berm while Oprean landed in the roadway. Troopers say a witness tried to stop traffic but Oprean was hit by two oncoming cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger, 22-year-old Michelle Antonelli of Cortland, was found inside the vehicle. Hollis, Shirer, and Antonelli were all transported to Med Central Mansfield. Hollis is listed in fair condition. Shirer and Antonelli were both treated and released.

Troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. It remains under investigation.
