Early voting is officially underway in Ohio for the upcoming November Election.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections had everything ready for voters who were ready to cast their ballots.

"We’ve been very busy. We’ve had a steady flow of voters come in Tuesday, which is good. We’ve also mailed out several applications Tuesday, several ballots Tuesday," says Executive Director, Chris Hamill.

More than 1,500 ballots were sent out, and Hamill says she expects to have a total of 7,000 to 8,000 local residents voting absentee this election. Hamill has mentioned that many people tend to vote early for the convenience or so they can research about the candidates and issues they want to vote for, but there’s one other reason you might not think about.

"We have several snow birds that go south for the winter, and they like to vote before they leave, " says Hamill.

Absentee ballots must be mailed back to the Board of Elections by noon on October 30th, and in order to vote in the upcoming election, you must be registered by next Monday, October 4th.
