Last Weeks of Farmers’ Market

Zanesville’s Downtown Farmers’ Market is winding down.

Residents only have two more weeks to head to the Welcome Center’s parking lot and buy local.

"We’ve been concerned because we’ve been going week to week with the drought. Crops were coming on early, " says Downtown Association Manager, Dana Matz,

You can still find a variety of products, including tomatoes, corn, and potatoes. Some of fall’s favorites are also readily available. While the dry weather took its toll of many crops, Ohio’s clay-like soil helped retain some water to help one farmer’s orchard.

"I will admit there’s been some sunburn, but overall, the trees are in great shape. The apples are large, colorful, and very sweet," says local farmer Bill Thomas.

Thomas says people tend to favor fall produce because of the variety of colors it produces and its taste.
