Military Troop Support Fundraiser

Community donations are going to a special cause.

From furniture to clothes, all kinds of items were being collected for Operation Spirit’s Military Troop Support Fundraiser at A1 Heating and Cooling. The organization uses the items to sell in their thrift store and also sends them to soldiers overseas.

"They’ve gotten truckloads in prior to today and all week it’s been coming into to the store because some people said they weren’t going to be in the area," said Director of Operation Spirit Melodie Pittman.

This program is full circle, Pittman says you don’t know how many lives you’re touching.

"Sometimes soldiers request humanitarian supplies and I know that some people might think that that’s an issue because it’s not really supporting our troops, but it is because it’s helping the people in Afghanistan and Iraq," she said.

Pittman says they are currently collecting donations for Christmas stockings for the troops. All items can be dropped off at A1 Heating and Cooling on Linden Avenue.
