Motorist Jailed after I-70 Accident

The eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Interstate 70 at exit 160 near Airport Road is now open following a Monday morning accident.

Sergeant Clark Felix with the State Highway Patrol said a semi and car were both traveling west on the roadway when the car driven by Garcia Gomez went off the roadway, hit a guardrail and then came back onto the roadway into the path of the semi, driven by Allan Romanik.

Romanik struck Gomez’s car and then continued into the grass median blocking both the eastbound lanes.

A passenger in the Gomez vehicle was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan with non life threatening injures.

Gomez is incarcerated for not having a license and failure to control at this time the patrol is trying to determine if he’s a legal citizen.
