A Crooksville family celebrated a solemn birthday.
The Savage family gathered to release balloons in honor of their family member David Savage Jr. Authorities say Savage was killed in a hit-and-run in July while walking along Route 93. Savage would have turned nineteen on Monday.
"We just thought this would be something we could do to keep him in our hearts and in our memory and keep things going," said David’s brother Timothy Savage.
Attached to each of the balloons was a card with information about the accident and a number to call or text if someone receives one of the balloons. A suspect has yet to be identified in the case. Some family members believe foul play was involved in Savage’s death.
"We still don’t have the closure that we need and I don’t feel David has the closure that he needs and there’s not going to be any closure nor rest until that person or those people come out and come forward with what happened," said Timothy.
A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information regarding the accident. Troopers are asking that anyone who may have seen or heard anything to call the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol at 740-654-1523
