Licking County is offering its first flu clinic of the season. It will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the health department, which is located at 675 Price Road in Newark. A second flu clinic will be held next Wednesday, September 8th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending that everyone, age six-months and older, receive a seasonal flu shot. Health officials say the vaccination contains the three most popular strains of flu that will affect people this year. This year’s happens to include the H1N1 strain.
The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department along with Rambo Memorial Health are also announcing the date of its major flu clinic at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Residents can drive through Thursday, October 7th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Public Information Officer, Jennifer Hiestand, says the health department is also trying to broaden its reach throughout the county on this day. A second drive-thru clinic will be held at the Dresden Fire Department from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a walk-thru clinic is hoping to target college students at Ohio University-Zanesville/Zane State from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The flu shots will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis until the health department has run out.
