Super Cat Adoption Day

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry feline to the family, this might be the weekend to do it.

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County is holding a ‘Super Cat Adoption Day.’ From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, adoption fees are lowered to $10 at the Animal Shelter and the PetSmart Adoption Center.

"The cats are completely vetted. That means spayed, neutered, vaccinated. Tested for feline leukemia and aids. Microchip, wormed, everything. They’re ready to go to their new home and there’s nothing else you have to do," says executive director of the Animal Shelter, Larry Hostetler.

Hostetler says this is the first time the Animal Shelter is holding the event. He says he got the idea from other shelters who have had similar adoption days.

"We want to try to get some cats into forever homes and these types of events have been held in other parts of the country and have been very successful. We thought we would give it a shot and see how well it goes."

The animal shelter currently has close to 180 cats that are up for adoption to anyone who is interested.
