Animals are feeling the love.

As a part of the 40 East Fall Festival and Benefit, area businesses along Old National Road featured special sales, home-cooked food, and fun activities to help raise funds for the Animal Shelter of Muskingum County.

"There are so many animals that have been neglected and abused that need good homes," said Dealer Kate Hagemeyer for the Glasshouse Antique Mall.

The shelter also created a wish list of items they hoped to receive through donations, including cat and dog food, collars and leashes, and various other animal neccessities.

"My husband and I have adopted several animals from the shelter and they have been some of the best dogs that we have ever had," said Annette Adam-Kendall of ABC Designs.

Pets are available for adoption at the Animal Shelter of Muskingum County Monday through Friday from 10 to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 to 4 p.m.
