76 Arrested at Athens Halloween Block Party

76 people are arrested after the Annual Halloween Block Party in Athens, and 63 of those individuals were taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Local authorities say the crowd was larger than in years past and remained a good size throughout the night.

Here’s a breakdown of the charges they’re reporting:

-one possession of heroin charge
-two possession of oxycotin charges
-six open container charges
-12 underage consumption charges
-12 underage intoxication charges
-two obstruction charges
-44 disorderly conduct by intoxication charges
-three assault charges
-one tresspassing charge
-one counterfeit money charge

Officers also indicate they dealt with one burglary call, two noise complaints, one threat, two vandalism incidents, and one suicide attempt. They say most on-duty officers were released around 3 a.m.

The Athens Fire Department also dealt with several calls along Court Street throughout the night, including what firefighters are calling a suspicious fire at the Athena Movie Theater. They say it caused minor damage and continues to be investigated.
