Bob Melsheimer of Zanesville received the 2010 Genesis Community Service award Thursday evening at the donor appreciation dinner.
The award is given annually and recognizes citizens who have made outstanding contributions not only to the Genesis Healthcare System, but also to the community.
"It’s just unbelievable, I really don’t, I haven’t done what I’ve done in the community to receive an award, I’ve basically done it, because I love doing it," said award recipient Bob Melsheimer.
He has participated in a variety of projects at Genesis and also serves on the Board of Directors, Pro-Am Committee, and Advisory Council. In past years, he has coached several youth leagues.
"If you look at simple things out there, it’s all about helping our community and whether it be a school system, or the Carr center, or the hospital, it’s just a wonderful thing to do," said Melsheimer.
