A local orthopedic practice is receiving recognition for being a step ahead in the industry.

Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville has received accreditation for their MRI scanner. They are among the first 500 in the nation to receive the accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of MRI Laboratories.

"It denotes that we’ve met and surpassed the required level of skill for not only the equipment that’s present here but also the interpretation of the MRI scans," says Karl Saunders, President of Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville.

All images are digitally transferred into the computer system and can be easily read which helps both physicians and patients.

"It adds another high degree of accuracy in the diagnosis and the treatment. It helps expedite the treatment and makes sure the treatment indeed is the appropriate treatment," says Saunders.

The MRI department has been at the practice for almost three years.
