Tackling in Pink

Football players are tackling an important cause.

The South Rebels Biddy Club is promoting "Rebels for a Cure" right here in Muskingum county. The football team, cheerleaders, and even fans wore customized pink clothing at their game outside the Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon to support breast cancer awareness.

"They all understand why they’re wearing pink, we’ve talked them and they actually couldn’t get their ribbons or the socks fast enough, they were really ready for it," said Team Representative Heidi McPeak.

All proceeds from the purchased shirts were donated to the Stefanie Speilman Foundation for breast cancer research.

"One of our parents, her mother is a breast cancer survivor, my aunt died at 39 from breast cancer and we just think it’s a really good foundation and it really needs our support," said McPeak.

Recent statistics indicate there are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. this year.
