The future of our area is looking bright.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack joined Congressman Zack Space at Zane State College Tuesday afternoon to discuss the future of Turning Point Solar; the country’s largest solar farm that will bring more than 300 jobs to Muskingum County.

"It’s all about rural developments and it’s all about jobs, it’s creating opportunities for folks in rural communities and be employed in a growing industry," said Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.

"If you want to take an advanced energy sector job or manufacturing facility somewhere, look at our area because we will have the workforce that’s capable of doing the job," said Congressman Zack Space. "We’ll have the educational infrastructure capable of training that workforce."

Zane State College will offer the training needed for workers to have the experience necessary for projects like this one. Congressman Space says this is a major victory for our region.

"I can’t tell you how good it feels because we know that this project and others like it that will happen because of this project are going to improve the lives of a lot of people," he said.

He says this is a springboard for future projects and is also proud to announce that two spanish companies will be setting up manufacturing facilities here to service the solar farms.
