A Zanesville home sustains major damage after a car strikes its kitchen Sunday evening.

Patrolman Joel Tignor says a van was left unattended at 635 Bates Street and a three-year-old pulled the vehicle out of gear. He says the van proceeded to go over a hill and struck a home at 352 Lucia Court.

While the car received minimal damage, Patrolman Tignor says the car ran into the wall, broke some piping, and pushed the kitchen counter back three or four feet. The Muskingum Valley Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family. No one was injured in the incident.

Patrolman Tignor says the father of the boy, 23-year-old David Boehke, is being charged with child endangering and leaving a vehicle unattended. He’s expected to appear in court later this week.
