Republican concern over making Ohio a business-friendly state has political figures talking Tuesday in Zanesville.

94th District State Representative, Troy Balderson, and 20th District State Senator Jimmy Stewart spoke with community members at republican headquarters about the need for small businesses to be welcomed in Ohio.

"Businesses are leaving the state of Ohio and we need to put a stop to that and we need business people in the state legislature where I’m serving right now. And we need a governor that has a business relationship with people," says State Representative, Balderson.

"John Kasich has pledged to try to reduce our tax burden, reduce regulation on businesses and try to create a better business climate so small businesses can grow and hire more people," says State Senator Jimmy Stewart.

An employer also spoke about the hardships he faces.

"Keeping the taxes down for one thing. Just make it easier for business owners to not spend all their money on taxes," says Rusty Montgomery of Montgomery Insurance.

The political figures met community members at the Muskingum County Victory Center in downtown Zanesville.
