Avondale Youth Center Christmas Celebration

The Avondale Youth Center kicked off its 2nd annual Christmas Fund Campaign Saturday evening.

The event featured carriage rides, snowball fights, multiple area choirs as well as a visit from of course, good Old St. Nick. But the event was more than just a great way to ring in the holiday season for the center’s youth, it’s a way to help raise money for a great cause.

"The fund actually is a fund that helps the kids all year round. It helps kids with trips, school supplies, it helps with school events, football, we usually do one big trip at the end of the year," says Avondale Youth Center Director Nate Norris.

Usually the center only raises between four and five thousand dollars. But last year, the center more than doubled that.

"Last year however, we raised over 10 thousand dollars and we would like to do the same this year because the money helps us year round, its not just for Christmas."
