O-H-I-O! Expect a lot of cheers coming from Eagle Sticks Friday night as Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts its 10th annual Buckeye Pep Rally.
While it may be taking place a week before the team’s face-off against Michigan, it’s not keeping fans away. About 450 people are attending the organizations second largest fundraiser
"Go Bucks! They had me worried a few weeks ago. We won’t mention that other game, but I think everybody’s got their hopes up for another great end to the season. If you’re not in scarlet and gray, you’re going to look funny. You probably don’t want to wear mason blue unless you’re very brave and very big," says Executive Director, Mollie Crooks.
Crooks is hoping to raise around $30,000, which will help recruit, screen, train, and support the organization’s volunteers. While its grant funding and individual donations may be down, it’s helping more kids.
"The children we do match have higher self-confidence. They do better in school. They get involved in less risk behaviors," says Crooks.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. One of the incentives is a 10K giveaway. If Big Brothers Big Sisters can sell 200 tickets at the event, someone will win $10,000.
