Technology is connecting the community.
The John McIntire Library in Zanesville has been approved for a grant to become a training partner with Connect Ohio, a federally funded program that was recently awarded $6.9 billion to offer free computer classes state-wide.
"The goal is to train people how to use a computer, provide computer and internet access. The library will do a series of three classes with each participant," said Manager of Public Relations Blair Tom.
After successfully completing the three classes, the participants will be able to puchase a refurbished computer for $150 and an internet package at a reduced rate for one year. Tom said the program will be extremely beneficial for southeastern Ohio.
"Geographically we’re challenged with getting internet access and it’s a perfect fit for the library, we connect people with information."
12 to 15 people will be accepted, there are no eligibility requirements. You can sign up at the library beginning in mid-December, the classes will start in January.
