There is a special dedication in downtown Zanesville for area vets this Saturday November 6th.
The final details were worked out Thursday morning at the County Commissioners office for the dedication of the World War II and Korean War Memorial.
"We have a few hundred dollars left that we need, we will have a box at the dedication ceremony and hopefully we will come up with every last penny," Betty Acker Fundraising Co-Chairperson said.
The ceremony will be held Saturday morning at 9 at the courthouse. And there will be special guests in attendance.
"We’re having a Two Star General coming that’s going to be our speaker and World War II veteran that’s going to be the Minister for the benediction and invocation," Secretary Treasurer of the Muskingum County Veterans Council Jeff Dittmar said.
The Downtown Memorial has been long in the making.
"It’s past due, it should have been completed long ago and we’re just really happy it’s getting done now," Acker said.
All the vets will be receiving a medal to thank them for their service to our country.
The Annual Veterans Day Parade takes place downtown just after the monument dedication.
