Library Thanks Voters

The Muskingum County Library System is showing voters what passing last years’ levy is doing for the community while hoping that they can continue to move forward with new elected officials in Columbus.

Today the library thanked voters for their support in last years’ election which has led to establishing many new programs including an E-Book system, among others.

"Early childhood literacy. We’re doing a lot more in that area because the kids, before they start school, they really need to be ready to read and the school really can’t do that but we can help with that," says Sandy Plymire, Director of Libraries for the Muskingum County Library System.

Plymire says that libraries receive funding through a specific percentage of the general revenue fund, and with a new governor in office, she hopes educational funding is not affected.

"Certainly the new governor is going to have different policies, different priorities than this governor. He’s already mentioned some of those. So we’re just going to be following it closely. We don’t know exactly what it will mean, but we’re going to try to stay on top of it and be proactive."

Plymire says the library’s newest project is providing downloadable music.
