Loads of Pancakes

There’s the Rotary roses, the Kiwanis’ peanuts, and then there’s the SERTOMA pancakes.

It’s almost time to open your belt another notch to fit stacks of delicious pancakes in your belly. Zanesville Mayor Butch Zwelling will be one of the cooks at this Wednesday’s SERTOMA Pancake Day.

"Some on mine are air-sealed because I flip them up in the air so they can get air sealed. They’re special. Some of the guys don’t flip them, and some of them I jokingly say have to give out an Alka-Seltzer with their pancakes," says Zwelling.

Zwelling says it’s a great community event. Typically 6,500 people attend each year, and all the proceeds go directly back into the community for local projects.

"The look on Zanesville people’s faces of satisfaction that they helped their fellow Americans, we’re helping our fellow Americans by helping the groups that help people," says Zwelling.

This is SERTOMA’s largest fundraiser of the year, which racks up around $23,000.

Doors will open at Secrest Auditorium around 6 a.m. You can purchase a ticket beforehand at the mayor’s office in City Hall for $5. Tickets at the door will be a dollar more, and of course, you can listen to all the fun from SERTOMA Pancake Day on our radio station AM 1240.
