Mission Oaks Foundation is in the process of transferring some land to the Muskingum County Parks District.
Phase one of the project dealt with the transfer of deeds for the property. Already the Parks District has built a new building on Pitman Street that is for the use of the community.
"The Parks District has a great educational building," said Commissioner Jerry Lavy. "We’re very fortunate to have something like this in Muskingum County."
The Parks District building is located at the corner of Euclid Avenue and McConnell Street and Commissioner Lavy said anyone who hasn’t experienced the Mission Oaks property should do so.
"I think it’s very important anytime you have green space for the community to enjoy, to go to a park setting to have activities in the park," said Lavy.
The mission of the foundation is to provide horticultural educational opportunities for citizens. The Mission Oaks Gardens is open Tuesday thru Sunday.
