Online Government Assistance

If you’re in need of government assistance, getting it can be as easy as clicking a button on your computer.

You can now apply online for Medicaid, food stamps, and cash assistance, and there’s even a test on the Website for you to check your eligibility.

"It makes it more convenient for folks to be able to apply. A lot of people are working more than one job. They’re working different schedules that aren’t necessarily conducive for them to come into the office and apply," says Beth Durant of Muskingum County Job and Family Services.

The online project went underway last Friday, and so far, the local office has already had two applications come in via the Web.

"It’s very easy. It’s driven one screen to the next. The screen actually turns green as they complete each page," says Durant.

If you’re already receiving assistance, the Website also allows you to change your case information online, such as income, rent, or household fluctuations.

If you’d like to learn more about the new online program, visit ODJFSBENEFITS.OHIO.GOV, or you can call Muskingum County Job and Family Services at 740-454-0161.
