Port Continues Projects

by Nichole Hannahs on November 17, 2010

As the year winds down the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority continues to work at finishing projects.

Currently, the Port is hoping to continue improving the Eastpointe Business Park by adding new signage to the new entrance. The Kessler Sign Company would create the lighted sign.

The Board said that since so much work has gone into that are it’s important to make it a premier feature in our area.

Also, the Port will do about $5,000 in work around the Job Ready Site. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is asking that some reseeding of grass take place and work on a wetlands area.

The big project focuses on adding a rail line to the area. At this point the project is still in the planning stages and could cost $3 million to complete.

It would include extending the rail line to the job ready site, adding gates, rail crossings and switches. It’s unknown at this time when or if the project will be put out to bid.

A commercial broker may also be brought in to talk to the board about the marketing of this project in hopes of bringing a company to the JRS.
