A two-vehicle accident sends four people to the hospital on Sunday

It happened around 1 p.m. on Canal Road in Frazeysburg.

Frazeysburg Police Chief Nick Garver says that a 16-year-old male driving a black Nissan Altima was traveling through a parking lot at Frew Memorial Park when he fell asleep at the wheel. He went through a field going up and over an embankment and striking a white Ford Econoline van that was attempting to turn into a driveway.

The drivers and passengers in each of the vehicles were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are unknown at this time.

Garver says the driver of the Altima passed a field sobriety test that was conducted after alcohol was discovered in the trunk.

Police say speed was a factor; drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out. The accident remains under investigation.
