A two car accident shut down part of State Route 719 Thursday evening and sent two to the hospital.

Trooper Todd Henry from the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says a green Saturn was stopped for a red light around 5:15 at the intersection of 719 and June Parkway in South Zanesville when a red Cavalier failed to stop.

The accident closed two lanes of 719 for about 20 minutes while crews worked to clear the roadway.

Upon clearing, traffic was detoured around the remainder of the accident. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
