A community comes together for a good cause.
The 20th annual Angel Tree Benefit performed its last Christmas show for the season this afternoon. The benefit raised money for The Salvation Army serving Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties. Under volunteer effort, Director Rich Tolliver says over 60 people took the stage to perform.
"Well when they come to audition, basically the different thing about the Angel Tree, I cast everybody who wants to be a part of it," said Tolliver.
Along with the cast and other volunteers, the public was able to attend the show by bringing their own donations. Tolliver says the benefit was rewarding for all involved.
"Christmas morning when you wake up, remember that you did this because there is children getting up on Christmas, having a Christmas, because you were part of it and that is probably the best gift to receive on Christmas," said Tolliver.
If you couldn’t attend the performance but would like to contribute, you can mail a check out to the Zanesville Community Theatre at PO Box 2967, Zanesville, OH 43702-2967.
