Basketball Gets Back Underway After Holiday

To borrow a phrase from Mark Twain, the rumors of Zanesville’s demise have been greatly exagerrated. The Blue Devil boys basketball team returned to their winning ways after a two game skid, handling Massillon Washington 71-61. It was the highest scoring output for the Devils this season. Senior Cole Carpenter leading the way with a career high 25 points and 10 rebounds, good for his second double-double of the year. Tanner Gibson poured in 22 points, as Rian Burrell chipped in 11. Coming into the game, the Blue Devils were shooting 42 percent from the field, they added nearly 20 points to that precentage, hitting 27 of their 44 field goals for 61 percent. The Blue Devils end the 2010 calendar year with a victory, with the next game coming next year against Granville.

The Crooksville Boys and Girls basketball teams were in action today at the Fairfield Chirstian Holiday Hoops Tournament today. The Girls used a big effort inside from Senior Brittany Swingle to advance to the finals, while the Ceramic Boys were cold from the field and fell into the third and fourth place game.
