John Bates summed up his final week as County Commissioner by saying, "Everything I’ve wanted to do in my life, I’ve done."
But, by no means does that mean that Muskingum County has seen the last of the politician.
"I think I’ll pursue something in the future in government," said Bates. "I don’t think you’ve seen the last of John Bates in Muskingum County. Whether that be running something at the state or local level or whatever. I’ve had lot of calls and a lot of interest. A lot of things and doors open since being county commissioner."
Bates lists among his accomplishments various water and sewer projects including the West Pike and Sonora Road. He has high hopes for the county.
"I would like to see more industry come into Muskingum County, but being the way it is with the economy was kind of tough," said Bates.
The commissioner said now that his time is over he’ll turn his attention back to selling real estate and working as an auctioneer.
