Deer Gun Season

Today wrapped up the end of deer gun season until the two day reopening on December 18th and 19th.

Owner Kathy McCann of Dillon Falls store in Zanesville says in the first day of deer gun season alone, 131 deer were checked-in.  And as of this morning, the number of deer reached 305.  But even with the successful numbers, McCann says weather conditions created some problems for hunters.

"According to the hunters, when the weather gets warm, the deer turn nocturnal, which means they just feed later in the evening and, as you know, hunters can only hunt so long in the woods," said McCann.

McCann says today’s turn out appeared promising despite the deer giving hunters a tough time.  If you didn’t have luck this time around, there will be two more days coming up.

"It depends how they did during gun season, if they didn’t get that big buck, then they go back out on the 18th and 19th and try to do it with the gun," said McCann.

McCann suggests that hunters get up as early as they can to set up, so they’re ready for the last days of deer gun season.
