The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says one person was killed in an accident that ended up in the Licking River. It happened around 4:30 Monday morning. Troopers say 50-year-old Mary Knipe of Zanesville was driving west on Licking Road in a minivan, lost control and drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle rolled over an embankment and ejected Knipe. The car and Knipe ended up in the river. Falls Township Fire and E-M-S crews recovered the victim from the river about 100 yards east of the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash which happened just east of Dillon Falls Road.
