More than 200 holiday items went up for auction today at thIs year’s Festival of Trees which raised over 42,000 dollars.

The event kicked off this morning with a wide array of homemade Christmas decorations that really highlighted the Zanesville community’s creativity.

"There’s some amazing talent out there and that’s also on display today. It’s really incredible what they can do in terms of promoting their businesses, promoting their community," says Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce President Tom Poorman.

Poorman says people are even more into this year’s festival because of the hometown theme.

"There’s also some entries that celebrate local sports figures, professional athletes that are from this area. There are also some that promote assets like the Lorena, the Y-Bridge and The Wilds," says Poorman.

The public was invited to bid on all the items ranging from 50 dollars all the way up to 2,500 dollars. But all money raised today and tonight goes right back in to the community through the Chamber of Commerce.
