A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday evening for a new restaurant now open in Zanesville.

Jack Havanas located at 216 Hazlett Court is joining Weasel Boy and Muddy Misers in the Putnam area. Owner John Starner says he has been wanting to open this restaurant for a while.

"We wanted to get back into the tropical theme and make you feel like you’re on some forbidden Caribbean island, namely Cuba," he said.

Starner said the menu has a carribean twist and uses a lot of different spices and jerk seasonings, but he adds there is somehting for everyone and that the prices are affordable. He said theme restaurants make the experience much more enjoyable.

"When I go out to eat and if something is a little more fun, the menu tells me a story and plus I’m a former history teacher, so I get it honestly," he said.

The restaurant is open at 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. They are currently hiring for a variety of positions, you must be nineteen or older to apply.
