Kiwanis Club Christmas Party

Christmas comes a little early for some area children.

The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville Wednesday hosted its annual Christmas party at the Knights of Columbus. Kiwanis members from local businesses took time out to spend the afternoon with 60 students from seven elementary schools.

"Not only are they getting a field trip today to get out of school but they’re getting to see Santa and lots of good presents," says Kiwanis Club Youth Services Chair Sarah Warfield.

Kiwanis members each got to spend 50 dollars on each child. But those funds would not have been possible without the community’s year round support.

"There are many fundraising events that we do here in Zanesville. Our largest one is the peanut sale, I am sure a lot of you have seen us standing out on the roads selling peanuts. The money that you donate from that helps us put this Christmas party on," says Warfield.

Some of the items on the kids wish lists were Barbie dolls, RC cars, board games and baby dolls.
