The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies were out Friday in full force to try and make our community a bit safer.

Sheriff Matt Lutz says 8 arrest warrants were served Friday as a result of a culmination of investigations from 2009 until now. Most cases involved today were charges of trafficking crack cocaine as well as the cultivation of marijuana. Lutz says most people were cooperative with authorities.

"For the most part today, we’ve had pretty good luck on finding people and its been without any incidents so far," says Lutz.

Lutz says this operation with the help of the central Ohio Drug Task Force, the DEA, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation as well as the Zanesville Police Department could not have been possible without the support of Muskingum County Commissioners.

"We are very thankful to our commissioners who have not cut our budget, have provided us with the necessary items we need to go out and do something like this and obviously its a team effort. I think the citizens of this county should feel pretty lucky that we’ve got the people that we do that want to put in the amount of hours that they do to do this."

Lutz says other warrants are still out for other suspects but two of them are out of state and two more have agreed to turn themselves in.
