Orchestra Rings in the Holidays

Hundreds of people packed Secrest Auditorium Thursday evening to listen to some holiday tunes.

It marked the 37th annual Holiday Pops Concert for the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra. This is Professor David Turrill’s first year participating in the concert and he says he enjoys being able to bring holiday cheer through music.

"You’re reaching a broader audience. A lot of more classically oriented concerts are more geared toward people who know more about music. This is geared for everybody," he says.

Turrill says there is something special about being a part of such a cheerful event.

"Just sitting in the orchestra and getting the applause, and just seeing how much fun people are having, especially at a holiday concert," he says.

Also held at the event was a silent and Chinese auction. The concert was free with a non-perishable can food donation.
